91ÂþÎÝ, co-founders of the Travel Media Awards, is thrilled to announce Michael Palin will be the recipient of the 2024 Special Contribution Award at this year’s awards, taking place on 28 October at The Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane. 

Famed for his groundbreaking work with Monty Python and as a celebrated travel presenter, Michael Palin’s career has seamlessly blended comedy, acting, writing, and travel storytelling. From the iconic BBC series Around the World in 80 Days to beloved documentaries like Pole to Pole and Himalaya, Michael has brought the world closer to audiences through his genuine curiosity and love for adventure. 

In addition to his television career, Michael is also a best-selling author, with works that span travel writing, novels, and personal memoirs. His enduring influence across entertainment and travel media has inspired generations to explore new horizons. 

“Michael Palin’s extraordinary contributions to entertainment and travel media have transformed how we see the world,” said Anthony Leyens, co-founder of the Travel Media Awards. “We are honoured to recognise his legacy at this year’s awards.” 

The 2024 Travel Media Awards, in association with Qatar, will celebrate the best in travel journalism, broadcasting, and photography, with winners announced on 28 October.

The Travel Media Awards was launched in 2015 to celebrate the very best in travel media. Open to all travel writers, broadcasters and photographers, the awards act as a true barometer of the sector.
